An important message about taking the NC Concealed Carry Handgun Safety Course:
It may be tempting to take a shortcut in the training required for a Concealed Handgun Permit. However, it may not be worth it in the end. Sheriffs and the Department of Justice are aware that some instructors have been asked to cut corners in training, and they are looking into the problem. If you are trying to take a class shorter than 8 hours it could compromise your application process. To be sure you are receiving the proper training, register for one of our classes or call us for a reference in your area.

TCG's Firearms Training Division was developed by Troy Perry to provide the firearms community with carefully selected and well qualified instructors who teach proven and consistent methods of firearms and related instruction. We believe it is our responsibility as instructors to provide a safe environment where you can learn how to use your firearm for sport or protection.
Concealed Handgun Permit Training
Troy Perry has been teaching this class since 2002 and in that time has remained consistent with state law providing the highest quality of legal and firearms use instruction. Having carried as a professional in private protective services for nearly 15 years, Troy teaches from real world experience in dealing with law enforcement and the public. After taking his Concealed Carry class, you can rest assured you have been correctly informed where your legal rights and obligations are concerned.
Basic Firearms Familiarization
All of TCG's instructors are well seasoned in the disciplines they teach. Whether you have bought a new pistol or that special rifle you have always wanted, we can provide you with core familiarization instruction that will make your experience more enjoyable. Familiarization is very important because of the millions of variations in firearms manufacturing, and knowing this is half the battle.
Basic Firearms Instruction
Once you are familiar with your particular firearm, it is time to learn the basic marksmanship fundamentals. Our instructors are certified in Rifle, Shotgun and Pistol and can help you to overcome the learning curve by providing you with the necessary instruction. Even if you have been shooting for years, basic marksmanship fundamentals are important and should be reviewed. Even the best golfers get some re-freshers occasionally.
Unarmed Self-defense
Unarmed self-defense is very popular and millions of people enjoy the health benefits of taking martial arts classes. However, if you are not one of these people you may want to consider some basic instruction in unarmed self-defense. Darren Braswell is our lead instructor and has been teaching self-defense for nearly 25 years. He has instructed police officers, military personnel and the average citizen with quick and effective solutions for unfriendly encounters. You may not always have a working firearm at your disposal. Do you have the skills to defend yourself or you family without one?
Armed Self-Defense
Once you have learned how to shoot your pistol it is time to learn how to use it effectively in a defensive posture. Our armed self-defense instructors have experience and training in life and death situations and are alive to tell about it. Have you thought about how you will defend yourself in your home if you experience a home invasion? Are you relying on a dog, alarm system or the police to protect you? If so, you can put a sign on your door that says "Ready and wiling to be your victim!"
These security measures are beneficial when the average thug who only wants to pilfer your jewelry drawer shows up when you are not home. Unfortunately, the most violent of burglaries take place when you are home, and this is intentional. When people are home the alarm systems are usually off and the guard is somewhat down. Too many 911 calls record dogs barking crazily in the background while a brave attacker makes entry into a home, and even though the victim is on the phone with 911 it can take many precious minutes for the police to arrive. At TCG we understand these issues and we can provide a plan for you to increase your chances of survival. Just like a fire escape plan, you need a plan of protection for you and your family.

Our re-loading instructors have decades of experience in re-loading. Even if you have your own experience you may benefit from some academic time with Howard, Lewis or Mark. If you are new to re-loading, then please take the time to join our class as we will offer you the best basic re-loading instruction available.
