An important message from the GM...

Several Concealed Handgun Permit Instructors who are certified by the state have been accused of "selling" certificates. If you are interested in obtaining your Concealed Handgun Permit, and you are offered a course that is shorter than 8 hours, beware.  This activity could have negative effects on your application process as the state sends people to these classes to seek out this very activity.  If, on the other hand, you are looking to get the most out of this class.... I think you know what to do.

Range Safety Officer

Name :
NRA Range Safety Officer Course

Short Description : Develops NRA Certified Range Safety Officers with the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

More Details: This course is nine hours long and is conducted in a classroom setting. Range Safety Officer candidates will learn roles and responsibilities of an RSO; Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); range inspection; range rules; range briefings; emergency procedures; and firearm stoppages and malfunctions. Each Range Safety Officer Candidate will receive an RSO Student Study Guide, a Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, an NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, an Instructor Application/Course Evaluation form. (Lesson Plan 10-05, reprint 10-08).

(The RSO Course is not an instructor discipline, however it is the policy of The Contingency Group to certify our students as Range Safety Officers (RSOs) before they become NRA instructors certified by our counselors.  It is our belief that instructors should have the necessary skills to properly manage a range firing line.)
