An important message about taking the NC Concealed Carry Handgun Safety Course:

   It may be tempting to take a shortcut in the training required for a Concealed Handgun Permit.  However, it may not be worth it in the end.  Sheriffs and the Department of Justice are aware that some instructors have been asked to cut corners in training, and they are looking into the problem.  If you are trying to take a class shorter than 8 hours it could compromise your application process.  To be sure you are receiving the proper training, register for one of our classes or call us for a reference in your area.

     There are basic requirements for students who wish to register for this course. 

    Students must have taken either   NRA Basic Pistol or NRA First Steps Pistol and received a certificate.  We are offering a First Steps Pistol Class for those who wish to take the Personal Protection in the Home course.  However, other alternatives are available. 

    If you would like to take First Steps  prior to Personal Protection, please select First Steps on the payment page along with Personal Protection.

NRA Personal Protection in the Home
     This course is designed to develop in the student the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a firearm for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding citizen's right to self-defense.

     This class involves student participation and lots of shooting.  Students will have the opportunity to shoot, from standing, kneeling and from behind cover.  Students are encouraged to bring a handgun they are familiar with and are likely to use for self-defense.

       Do you need some time at the range to make you more comfortable with your handgun?  Do you want to further your training?  Private lessons are available and include the very basics of firearms use as well as advanced applications such as home defense.  Please contact us for more information.
