An important message from the GM...

Several Concealed Handgun Permit Instructors who are certified by the state have been accused of "selling" certificates. If you are interested in obtaining your Concealed Handgun Permit, and you are offered a course that is shorter than 8 hours, beware.  This activity could have negative effects on your application process as the state sends people to these classes to seek out this very activity.  If, on the other hand, you are looking to get the most out of this class.... I think you know what to do.

Concealed Carry Handgun Permit Training

This is the class required by North Carolina before applying for a Concealed Handgun Permit.  This class is comprised of eight hours of mandatory classroom training with additional time on the range.

Classroom time involves two hours of lecture on the legal aspects of using deadly force in self-defense and the laws concerning where a concealed handgun may not be carried.  The remainder of the lecture covers firearms safety & nomenclature as well as marksmanship fundamentals.

Before completing this class the student shall pass a twenty question test about the legalities of carrying a concealed handgun and the use of deadly force.  In addition, the student must demonstrate how to safely load, unload and handle a handgun as well as shoot a handgun at a target.  Handling procedures are graded by the Instructor during practical application, and shooting proficiency is determined by the score the student receives after shooting forty rounds at a life-sized silhouette.

There is a $25 non-refundable deposit due upon registration.  After completing the registration form at the bottom of this page, you will be directed to a checkout page. At this time you will have the option of paying the deposit or the full cost of $100.  (Please do not pay $25 and $100.)  If you choose to only pay the deposit, the remaining $75 will be due before class begins.

There is a $10 facilities fee that will be collected on the day of the firearms class and this payment may be made in cash or check.  Checks should be made payable to FOP Lodge #10 for this payment only.  All other payments should be made to The Contingency Group, LLC.

Private Concealed Handgun Permit classes for 1-5 students are available for $500 and can be purchased in advance.  This will include all items necessary to the completion of the course including handgun rental, hearing & eye protection, target and ammunition.  Registration for private classes must be done by telephone with Troy Perry at 980-722-7386.  (Additional cost may be incurred due to travel and range rental.)

Do you need some time at the range to make you more comfortable with your handgun?  Do you want to further your training after the Concealed Carry class?  Private lessons are available and include the very basics of firearms use as well as advanced applications such as home defense.  Please contact us for more information.
